WHAT WE DO

We run a mental health drop-in centre that offers a safe, supportive and welcoming environment in Newbury Town. We provide support to about 100 members living across West Berkshire whose lives are affected by mental health issues.

We’re committed to supporting members in enriching their lives, well-being, confidence, and self-esteem. Through peer support, personalised assistance from our coordinators, committed volunteers, training, and a diverse array of well-being activities, we’re dedicated to creating positive change.

We are open 3 days a week, Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9 am until 4 pm. Members can drop in as and when they want to. There is a selection of free hot and cold drinks on offer and twice a week there is a hot, home-cooked, low-cost meal available.

1:1 support is available to those who need it, every day that we are open. There is also an art and craft class and movement class once a week. Prize bingo takes place most days too. Otherwise, it is a place to pop in for a cuppa, chat, relax and make new friends.

WHO WE ARE

Members

As a member-led charity, we have a team of members who form part of the Member Management Committee. Members of the charity are entitled to vote. The committee is voted for by the members. The Members Committee holds regular meetings where they decide on activities and things they would like to see happen at the centre. They also organise fundraising events, coffee mornings and day trips.

Staff

We are made up of a small team of staff. The 2 Coordinators, Claire and Steph oversee the day-to-day running of the drop-in centre as well as provide a range of advocacy support to the members that need it.

We also have a Charity Administrator, Yvette, who has a varied role supporting the charity with day-to-day administrative tasks including social media and our website.

Our Charity Manager, Andrea, has overall responsibility for the charity including finding and applying for funding.

Trustees

We have a well-established board of trustees with 7 people giving their time to oversee the Charity.
